Q. What are the WEEE Regulations?

A. The WEEE Regulations became law on 2 January 2007. Producers must register by 15 March and fund the treatment and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment from 1 July 2007.

Put simply, the WEEE regulations will make producers of electrical equipment responsible for the cost of treatment, recycling and disposal of their products at the end of their life. Retailers of electrical equipment will have to take back equipment on a like-for-like basis.
