Q. What will “producers” have to do?

A. Producers will have obligations in 3 main areas:

1. Registration. Producers will be required to register with a scheme by 15 March and provide data on the quantity and weight of equipment put on the market.
2. Markings. All EEE put on to the market after 13th August 2005 will have to be marked with a “crossed out wheelie bin” symbol and other markings.
3. Funding. For household equipment, producers will be required to fund the treatment, recycling and disposal of separately collected WEEE. For business WEEE producers will have specific obligations to fund the treatment, recycling and disposal of their WEEE.
